The Western Sydney Wanderers face their first away fixture in the AFC Champions League tonight when they take on Chinese Super League side Guizhou Renhe.
Looking to bounce back from their match day one loss to Ulsan Hyundai at Parramatta Stadium, the Wanderers are aiming to take all three points in China.
This time around with the veracity of the AFC Champions League realised the Wanderers are ready for their competition and keen to register their first points.
With a series of players experienced in Asia and over 48 hours to settle in Guiyang (Capital of the Guizhou province) ahead of the clash, the Wanderers enter the match confident that travel time and a vastly different climate will have no impact on their game.
“When you’re playing against quality players and quality teams, obviously it’s a higher standard and a competitive level,” said Wanderers striker Labinot Haliti.
“We’re in a group with three quality teams. I think Wednesday night’s game is very important and we take it very serious.
“If we concentrate and do the job as best we can and listen to the coaching instructions we will do well. It is important that we are positive and look for a good result.
“We were here for two weeks in pre-season and we saw a lot of things, the mentality of people, the culture and the style in which they like to play.”
Guizhou Renhe lost 1-0 to Kawasaki Frontale in their first match but will still prove a tough side, especially at home.
An important man for the Red and Black to keep in line will be Guizhou’s midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian international netting six goals and setting up a further 15 in his debut season with Guizhou.
The Western Sydney Wanderers v Guizhou Renhe clash kicks-off at 8pm (11pm AEDT) tonight. Live coverage is on Fox Sports 3.
