The Penrith Panthers will have one more game this weekend to iron out the kinks before their NRL season opener against the Newcastle Knights in a fortnight’s time.

The Panthers will unleash a near full strength squad for Sunday afternoon’s final pre-season trial against Sydney Roosters feeder club, Newtown Jets.

It was to be the first time Panthers fans would get to witness new halves pairing Jamie Soward and Peter Wallace on the field together, but Soward injured his ankle at training on Tuesday and will have scans today to determine the extent of the problem.

The trial on Sunday will mark the club debut of high profile Kiwi international Elijah Taylor. Also set to feature for the first time in 2014 is international centre Dean Whare, fresh from his breakout World Cup efforts.

Penrith take on the Newtown Jets at Penrith Stadium at 4.30pm on Sunday. Entry is free.

Panthers NRL side: Matt Moylan, Josh Mansour, Dean Whare, Jamal Idris, David Simmons, Jamie Soward, Peter Wallace, Brent Kite, Kevin Kingston, Nigel Plum, Lewis Brown, Elijah Taylor, Adam Docker. (Bench: Segeyaro, Latimore, Peachey, McKendry, K Naiqama, Grant, John).
