Penrith produced one of their best performances of the season to upset defending premiers Manly 22-4 at Centrebet Stadium this afternoon.

The Panthers brushed off the ongoing Michael Jennings saga and reports that Luke Lewis has been stripped of the club’s captaincy to shut out the Sea Eagles in the second half.

Leading 6-4 at half-time, Penrith put their foot down in the second half, crossing for three unanswered tries to record an important win heading into the bye next weekend.

The Panthers broke a nil-all deadlock just seven minutes short of half-time when Luke Walsh broke the line and Lachlan Coote ultimately crossed under the posts.

While Manly hit back to be within two points at the break, they couldn’t hold out a powerful Penrith in the second stanza, with tries to Brad Tighe, Geoff Daniela and Luke Lewis.

The Panthers missed just 11 tackles, compared to Manly’s 25, and dominated possession.
