FOX Sports has this afternoon confirmed it will bow to immense pressure from Penrith rugby league fans and will broadcast Friday’s Toyota Cup elimination final between the Panthers and Dragons live.
The game was originally scheduled to be shown on delay at 11.45pm on Friday night, more than eight hours after kickoff.
Instead of showing the game live, FOX Sports was adamant it would show delayed coverage of the Premier League snooker.
But the Weekender launched a massive overnight campaign to change the decision, employing social media and an online petition in an effort to ensure the game was shown live.
Last night FOX Sports told the Weekender that there was “no way” the decision would be changed.
But this afternoon a spokesperson said live coverage would commence at 3.00pm on Friday, a massive win for Panthers and Dragons fans who are cheering on their under 20’s players after their NRL sides failed to make the finals.
No word yet on a re-scheduled time for the snooker.
