It was described as “one of the best days ever at Kurrambee” when Australian and NSW Swifts netballer, Mo’onia Gerrard, visited the Werrington-based school for disabled children last week.

The 31-year-old world champion said she was thrilled to have had the opportunity to spend quality time with the kids and help put a smile on their faces.

“The girls and the boys have been very good today and it’s just nice to see a smile on the their faces,” Gerrard said.

“Sport in children’s lives is very important because it keeps them out in the sun and keeps them active and healthy, and is definitely a good message.”

During Gerrard’s hour-long session at the school she made her way through many of the classrooms visiting students, signing autographs and taking countless photos.

She then taught enthusiastic youngsters how to shoot, pass and catch.
