The Panthers are tonight mourning the death of club legend Mick Kelly.
The club has confirmed that Kelly passed away this afternoon. He had suffered a stroke late last week.
“Mick was a life member of Panthers and greatly respected for the long and dedicated service he gave to the club and rugby league,” said Panthers Chairman, Don Feltis.
Kelly coached Penrith’s reserve grade team in the formative years of the Panthers and played a significant role in the club’s history.
He played for Newtown in the 1950’s but it was his involvement with the Panthers that defined him.
His son Michael played for the Panthers in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Mick Kelly was 73.
