Firearms are not often associated with safety but St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre are keen to change that within the younger generation.
St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre are inviting any juniors interested in learning more about the safe, fun and unique range of shooting sports to register for the new term of the Junior Development Program.
Training Co-ordinator, Mitch Newbery, said the aims of the program were to teach children about the sport of target shooting while emphasising firearm safety.
“Our program is structured so that the juniors not only enjoy the fun and challenging sport of target shooting, but are also encouraged to improve their skills through coaching and practice,” Newbery said.
“Target shooting is an Olympic sport and it’s essential we get young shooters in who want to learn the sport in a safe and fun environment.
“Who knows, there could be an Australian Olympic Gold medallist in the future.”
Intake for the next term of the Junior Development Program begins on Saturday, June 2, with the 10-week term commencing on Saturday, July 21.
“We cater for absolute new-comers right up to juniors who have already competed in target competitions,” Newbery said.
The St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre is now regarded as the largest indoor shooting range in Australia, which is suitable for various rimfire, centrefire and pistol competitions.
