The A-League has confirmed that western Sydney will have a team in the competition from next year.
Football Federation Australia Chief, Ben Buckley, said the community would have a major say in the club’s name, colours, and logo.
“We will also explore the opportunities for the community to take ownership of the club,” he said.
“This is a major strategic investment… this is a grand project that can change the landscape not only for the Hyundai A-League, but for football.”
Joining Mr Buckley at the announcement was Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, who promised $8 million funding to help boost football in the western Sydney region.
Lindsay MP, David Bradbury, was among those at the official announcement.
