One of the biggest complaints in life is work, we have all heard it a hundred times, and all been in the same situation at one time or another.
Some people receive a payout or a windfall of money from somewhere and think that injecting the funds into a business start up is the right way to go, and that is where the problem begins.
I’ve seen people invest thousands of dollars into a business and then lose the lot.
Just because you have eaten at a restaurant five times a week for the last 10 years doesn’t mean you can run one.
Don’t get me wrong, I am pretty optimistic in most cases and encourage people to succeed wherever possible, but I hate seeing individuals and couples having to go back into the workforce because they have lost their house or their superannuation payout on a business that was doomed from the start.
If you have a large chunk of money or are about to, think long and hard about what you want to do with it.
Running your own business doesn’t necessarily mean freedom.
People often go into business because they are in the field already. For mechanics working in a garage starting their own similar business makes sense. But a librarian deciding to start a fireworks company doesn’t.
I just want people to spare that extra thought before committing so much.
It takes a little work, but think about the good and the bad points of owning and running your own business. Don’t get caught up in the daydream that few businesses offer in reality. Go into any business venture with your eyes wide open.
