Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards has been ruled out of State of Origin I after suffering a quad injury at training.

It’s a devastating blow for the 28-year-old who was finally poised to make his Origin debut for the Blues after waiting in the shadows of James Tedesco.

Edwards suffered the injury yesterday and it’s understood he was ruled out this morning.

Tedesco was due to play for the Roosters against the Cowboys today but it’s believed he is a late withdrawal from that game so he can join the Blues camp.

Focus will now turn to how long Edwards will be sidelined for, and if he will come back into the Origin side during the series.
