All the details ahead of ANZAC Day services in Penrith

Anyone looking to commemorate ANZAC Day by attending a Dawn Service or partaking in a game of two-up can find a range of options available in Penrith.

Penrith Dawn Service

Penrith City Council will be joining with Penrith RSL Sub-branch to hold the traditional Dawn Service at Memory Park on Thursday, April 25.

Community members are encouraged to assemble at 4.30am, with a march to take place from Castlereagh Street, outside Penrith RSL, towards Memory Park.

A service will commence once all are assembled at the park at 5am.
Following the service Penrith RSL will provide a breakfast and those attending are encouraged to provide a gold coin donation, with proceeds going to RSL Life Care.

Penrith RSL will be host a series of entertainment and activities throughout the day following the service.

Penrith Sunday Service

Penrith RSL are also hosting a Sunday service on Sunday, April 21.
This service will commence at 3pm and meet at the corner of Castlereagh Street and Tindale Street.

The parade will walk down High Street to Memory Park where a commemorative service will be held.

St Marys Dawn Service

Meanwhile, St Marys RSL Sub-branch will be holding a dawn service on Thursday, April 25. The service will be at the St Marys Diggers Club and will commence at 5am.

Following the service St Marys Diggers Club will be hosting a series of live music and two-up events.

Emu Plains commemoration

Meantime, the Emu Plains Community ANZAC Day Service will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 25.

The event will be at the Emu Plains War Memorial (Melrose Cenotaph) at Lions Park in Emu Plains.

WVNA service

And the Women Veterans Network Australia (WVNA) will be hosting a commemorative service on Saturday, April 20 at Memory Park with a 10am start.

ANZAC DAY road closures

Road closures will be in effect in Penrith between 3am and 7am on ANZAC Day at the following locations:

– High Street (between Station Street and Lawson Street).
– Lawson Street (from traffic lights on high Street).
– Castlereagh Street (between Lethbridge and High Street).
– Tindale Street (between Woodriff Street and Castlereagh Street).
– Tindale Street (Penrith RSL car park entrance closed). To enter Penrith RSL during these hours enter via Lethbridge Street.
– Woodriff Street (to Derby Street).
– Union Lane (between Station Street and Woodriff Street).

For those looking to commemorate later in the day, a series of Leagues Clubs and restaurants will be holding ANZAC Day specials.

Panthers, Penrith RSL, The Log Cabin and O’Donoghues are some of the Penrith places that will be hosting games of two-up.
