Mexican restaurant Chechos has announced its almost immediate closure with the Penrith venue to shut this weekend.

It is the latest in a long line of hospitality closures in Penrith.

“It’s been an incredible four years at the heart of this community and we cannot thank every single one of our loyal customers enough for your support,” a statement said.

“It’s been a hell of a ride and we’re so proud of what we’ve been able to create.”

The statement pointed to ongoing hospitality pressures as a cause of the closure.

“This being said, it is a really tough time for hospitality and our only parting wish is that you guys continue to support local restaurants, cafes and bars,” it said.

“There are so many incredible operators and businesses hurting and can’t get through this period without you.”

The restaurant opened in 2020 and survived the 2021 lockdowns, becoming a popular take home option as the pandemic struck.

Chechos will be open across the weekend for final margs and tacos.
