There will be changed traffic conditions on the M4 Motorway between Russell Street, Emu Plains and The Northern Road, South Penrith for road maintenance work to repair damaged sections of the road.
The work will take place over six night shifts between Monday, March and 11 Wednesday, March 20, weather permitting. Working hours will be from 8.30pm to 5am. No work will occur on Friday or Saturday nights.
There will be temporary traffic impacts while we complete this work. This includes closure of the Motorway eastbound between Russell Street, Emu Plains and The Northern Road. Westbound lanes will remain open.
Motorists travelling eastbound on the M4 Western Motorway will need to use the detour via Russell Street, The Great Western Highway, and The Northern Road. Motorists can also access Mulgoa Road using this detour. Motorists wishing to continue travelling eastbound can re-enter the M4 Motorway at The Northern Road.
This detour is expected to increase travel time by around 10 minutes.
There will be a temporary speed limit reduction in place after each shift whilst the pavement is being replaced. Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
