The Brew Lab Café in Penrith has announced it will shut, the latest in a string of hospitality closures.

The High Street café announced the news on social media this morning.

“After years of battling like many local businesses, it’s all coming to an end,” the social post said.

“I have many good & bad things to say… But we will save all of the real stuff for another day.”

The café gained national media exposure last year for its $1,500 coffee.

The Brew Lab is open this morning and there’s no indication of a closing date.

Owned by Mitch Johnson, the café moved to High Street in 2021 having previously been located in Henry Street.

It’s another example of difficult times in hospitality, and the latest in a number of cafe and restaurant closures over the last 12 months.
