Penrith is set to begin its title defence against Melbourne as the NRL finalises the 2024 draw.

The draw could be released as early as Monday.

It is set to reveal a Storm v Panthers showdown at AAMI Park on Friday, March 8 with the game to be live on both Fox Sports and Channel Nine.

Round one will be split across two weekends with two matches in Las Vegas on March 3.

Should Penrith’s trip to Melbourne be locked in, it will be the first time since 2017 that the Panthers have opened the season away from home.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are expected to travel to England in February to take on Wigan in the World Club Challenge.

Penrith hosted the event last year but it is set to return to its more traditional home overseas next year.
