The scene at Blacktown as commuters wait for replacement buses.

There are major delays on the rail network this afternoon with no trains running between Blacktown and Penrith.

A tree has fallen near the tracks at St Marys, closing the Western Line and Blue Mountains Line.

“Replacement buses have been requested but are not yet running,” a Transport Management Centre spokesperson said.

“Passengers are advised to delay their trips or allow plenty of extra travel time.”

The incident has happened as wild winds hit Sydney.

It could not have happened at a worse time with the afternoon peak currently in full swing.
