Penrith’s Preliminary Final date has been revealed.

The Panthers will play the winner of next week’s clash between Melbourne and the Sydney Roosters on Friday, September 22 at 7.50pm.

There was speculation that Brisbane would be given the Friday night slot for their Preliminary Final against either the Warriors or Knights, but the NRL has opted to schedule the Panthers in the prime time spot.

Penrith will enjoy next weekend off after a 32-6 thrashing of the Warriors at BlueBet Stadium yesterday.

The Preliminary Final is likely to be played at Accor Stadium, but no details have been released at this stage with the NRL issuing a ‘To Be Confirmed’ in terms of the venue.

Should the clash be against Melbourne, there would be huge question marks over the type of crowd the match would attract at the 80,000-plus seat Olympic venue.

Meanwhile, the NRL has scheduled the Warriors’ home Semi Final next weekend on Saturday at 6.05pm local time, meaning a 4.05pm kick-off back in Sydney.

The Storm and Roosters will play at AAMI Park on Friday night.
