Man charged over St Marys crash that left two injured

A man has been charged over a three-vehicle crash in St Marys yesterday.

About 7am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to the intersection of Forrester Road and Griffiths Street, St Marys, following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were told a Hyundai i20 and a Yamaha motorcycle had collided before the Hyundai struck a Kia Cerato.

The rider – a 25-year-old man – was ejected. He was treated by paramedics for serious leg and arm injuries and will require surgery.

The Kia driver – a 27-year-old woman – was taken to hospital as a precaution and later released.

The Hyundai driver – a 23-year-old man – was uninjured.

A crime scene was established which was forensically examined by specialist officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Following inquiries, a 23-year-old man was arrested at a Hebersham home about 7.20pm.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with ‘dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous’ and ‘negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm)’.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on Monday, March 6.
