Driver charged after hitting pedestrian in Erskine Park

A man has been charged over a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Erskine Park yesterday.

About 2.30pm, Saturday, January 14, emergency services were called to Barcoo Close at Erskine Park, following reports a man had been hit by a car.

On arrival, officers from Nepean Police Area Command located a 20-year-old man suffering serious head injuries. He was taken to Westmead Hospital.

Police will allege the man was struck by a Volkswagen Golf and the vehicle failed to stop after the incident; however, was located on a nearby street a short time later.

The 22-year-old male driver was taken to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition and underwent mandatory testing.

He was arrested and taken to St Marys Police Station, where he was charged with ‘Wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV)’ and ‘Fail to stop and assist after impact cause injury’.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on Tuesday, January 24.
