Premiership-winning winger Charlie Staines will depart the Panthers with immediate effect, joining the Wests Tigers for the 2023 season.

It comes as the Panthers confirm Tyrone Peachey will return to the club, departing the Tigers after one season.

Panthers Rugby League CEO Matt Cameron paid tribute to Staines, who played 38 first grade matches for the club including the 2022 Grand Final win over Parramatta.

“It’s been rewarding to see Charlie progress his rugby league journey during his time at the club,” he said.

“Charlie leaves Panthers as a premiership winner with several fond memories, including his unforgettable NRL debut and his try in the 2022 NRL Grand Final.

“On behalf of all at Panthers, I’d like to thank Charlie for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.”

Peachey returns to the foot of the Mountains after stints at the Gold Coast and Tigers since departing Penrith at the end of 2018.

He’s already played 109 games for Penrith, having first joined the club in 2014.

“I look forward to welcoming Tyrone and his family back home to Panthers for the 2023 NRL season,” Cameron said.

“It’s great to have Tyrone’s experience and versatility as part of our club, and we believe he can flourish in the Panthers environment.”
