Penrith have signed boom try-scoring winger Taylan May to an extended deal in a major boost to the defending Premiers.
The 20-year-old winger has committed to the Panthers until at least the end of the 2024 season.
“It’s an honour to re-sign at the club. It’s always been a dream of mine to play for the Panthers and I’m making it a reality now,” May said.
“Having grown up in Mt Druitt, I’m not just playing for myself, but I’m playing for my family and the whole community.
“The Panthers jersey means a lot to me – I’m humbled and grateful for this opportunity that has been given to me.”
A Minchinbury Jets junior who progressed through the club’s development pathways, May has played 11 NRL games for Panthers since making his first grade debut last season.
The young winger has been impressive for the Panthers in 2022, having scored 11 tries in 10 games – to sit second for most tries in the NRL.
Despite receiving interest from other NRL clubs, May saw the value of remaining at the Panthers to further his rugby league career.
“We’re delighted to have Taylan commit to Panthers for the next two seasons, ” Panthers Rugby League CEO Matt Cameron said.
“He was given an opportunity in the starting side earlier this season and there is no question he has taken his opportunity with both hands.
“We’re thrilled to see another local junior progress his rugby league career at the club, and we’re excited to see May remain in Panthers colours until at least the end of 2024.”
