Doing Penrith proud: Athletes gear up for Paralympics

The Olympic Games captivated a nation a few weeks ago and brought us all together like never before.

And from next Tuesday night, us Australians get to do it all over again as we cheer on our mighty Paralympians to glory at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Incredibly, eight inspirational Aussies competing in Tokyo have a special local connection either through birth, training base, club or residency.

From August 24 to September 5, we encourage you to throw back on your green and gold, suck on a throat lozenge and get ready to cheer home our local athletes as loud as you can.

South Penrith Para-rower Kate Murdoch will compete in her second Paralympic Games, while fellow local Jonathon Milne will be aiming for another medal in Para-archery.

Just like they did with the Tokyo Olympics, Channel Seven’s coverage will take fans inside the Paralympic Games like never before across 13 action-packed days.

From morning to midnight every day on Channel Seven and 7plus, viewers will be able to choose from an unprecedented offering of up to 16 live streams.

18 of the 22 Paralympic disciplines will be covered live, including all the sports Australia traditionally excels in, so you won’t miss a minute of the action.

Make sure you visit the Western Weekender’s website and social media channels throughout the duration of the Games for up-to-date information.

Good luck to all our athletes, now go do Australia and Penrith proud!
