Police have released CCTV vision, and are appealing for information from the community, after a puppy died following a suspicious unit fire in St Marys.

About 12.50am on Tuesday, June 22 emergency services were called to a unit at Marsden Road, St Marys, following reports of a fire.

The blaze was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW a short time later.

An eight-week-old puppy called ‘MJ’ was located inside the home and died as a result of the fire.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

As investigations continue, police have released CCTV vision of a person officers would like to speak to.

That person, who was seen in the area prior to, and after the fire, is depicted wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper or jacket and baggy style jeans.

Inquiries are continuing.
