A 68-year-old man has been hit by a car when he was crossing the road on Maxwell Street, South Penrith.
The impact caused the pedestrian to fall and hit his head, sustaining head and chest injuries.
CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance at 2.40pm and landed 15 minutes later in Southlands Oval where NSW Ambulance paramedics were transporting the patient to meet CareFlight’s clinical team.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the man and conducted an ultrasound, identifying that the patient had multiple suspected internal fractures that they were able to treat before transport.
CareFlight’s clinical team continued providing care as the man was taken by road ambulance to Westmead Hospital with NSW Ambulance in a stable condition.
