Detectives have charged a Cranebrook man after seizing a shotgun, three poker machines and prohibited drugs following an investigation into the alleged possession of illegal firearms.
In June this year, detectives from NSW Police Force and Australian Federal Police (AFP), as part of the National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS), commenced an investigation into the possession, importation and supply of prohibited firearms.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a home at Cranebrook about 6am on Wednesday, July 8.
Detectives were also assisted throughout the operation by officers from the North West Metropolitan Region Operations Support Group (OSG), the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS) and AFP investigators.
During the search, investigators seized a shortened double barrel shotgun, a replica pistol, three electronic poker machines and a motorcycle.
“Steroids and an amount of MDMA were also located and seized by police,” a Police spokesperson said.
“All items will be subject to further forensic examination.”
A 26-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with possess unregistered firearm (prohibited firearm), not keep firearm safely (prohibited firearm), possess prohibited drug and possess unauthorised firearm.
The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today.
Investigations are continuing.
