A man remains in hospital while a second is due in court today following an alleged assault at Penrith this morning.

Emergency services were called to Panthers Leagues Club around 1.10am today, responding to reports a man had sustained head injuries after being punched during a scuffle with another patron inside the premises.

They found a 20-year-old man suffering head injuries; he was taken to Westmead Hospital where he’s being treated for a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

Police have been told the Hebersham man is in a stable condition.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command arrested a 19-year-old Bidwill man at the scene and took him to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with ‘recklessly causing grievous bodily harm’.

He has also been charged with ‘assault occasioning actual bodily harm’ following the alleged assault of a second man who had intervened in the initial incident.

The Bidwill man has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.

A 20-year-old man, from Claremont Meadows, who intervened in first alleged assault has also been treated at Westmead Hospital for facial injuries. He has now been allowed to leave.
