A man has been charged with assault and outstanding warrants after attempting to rob a man in St Marys last year.
Just after 5pm on Saturday, November 24, a 28-year-old man was waiting for a bus at St Marys Bus Interchange when he was approached by a 33-year-old man.
The older man allegedly threatened the victim, who refused to hand over his property.
“The two men then boarded a bus and the offender allegedly slapped the victim before sitting down,” a Police spokesperson said.
“The incident was later reported to police.”
Officers from the North West Transport Action Group initiated an investigation.
About 10.30am yesterday, police arrested the 33-year-old man at an address in Tregear.
He was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he was charged with assault with ‘intent to rob’, ‘common assault’, and three outstanding warrants.
