Firefighters are working to free two people trapped in their cars following a serious accident on the M4 Motorway this morning.

The crash happened in the citybound lanes of the Motorway near The Northern Road at Orchard Hills just after 6am this morning.

Up to seven vehicles, including a motorcycle, are believed to be involved in the accident.

“It looks like there’s two people trapped – one person in a not very good way,” witness Daniel told Radio 2GB.

All eastbound lanes of the M4 are now closed, with traffic being diverted off the Motorway at The Northern Road.

“Eastbound motorists should consider exiting the motorway at Mulgoa Road and use the Great Western Highway instead,” a Transport Management Spokesperson said.

The accident is likely to cause continuing chaos on the M4 this morning.
