Three charged after police pursuit

Three men will face court after a police pursuit in the local area yesterday.

About 1.15pm on Thursday, officers from Metropolitan Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Ford Falcon on Carpenter Street, Colyton, to speak with the driver.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated to Saddington Street, St Marys, when it stopped, the men ran from the vehicle. They were arrested nearby.

During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located a replica glock pistol, prohibited weapons including a machete, and a set of number plates, believed to be stolen.

The vehicle was seized pending forensic examination.

A search of the men located a knife and drugs. The items were seized.

The trio were taken to Penrith Police Station. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, was charged with 12 offences including ‘police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (Skye’s Law)’, ‘suspended driver’, ‘negligent driving’ and ‘speed dangerous to the public’.

His passenger, a 31-year-old man, was charged with possess prohibited drug and an outstanding warrant.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today.

The third man, aged 18, was charged with ‘possess knife in a public place’. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on Tuesday, January 16.
