Man charged after scrub fire

Police have charged a man after a small scrub fire in Londonderry yesterday.

About 5pm, emergency services were called to Boscobel Road, Londonderry, to attend the scrub fire which was quickly brought under control by the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Approximately 20 metres of scrub was destroyed.

A 34-year-old man was held by RFS officers until the arrival of police from Penrith Local Area Command who placed him under arrest.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with ’cause or set fire to the property of another’.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on Monday, January 9, 2017.

Meanwhile, with the bushfire season now underway, police urge any person with information about the deliberate lighting of fires to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
