The Penrith Panthers have found a replacement for wayward centre Jamal Idris, this afternoon confirming the signing of international Peta Hiku on a three year deal.

Hiku has been released by Manly to join the Panthers next season and has signed until the end of the 2018 NRL season.

“We are indeed fortunate that Peta became available at this stage of the year. He will perfectly complement the emerging young players we have here at Panthers,” said Panthers Executive General Manager of Rugby League, Phil Gould.

“The fact that Peta, at a young age, has forced his way into that tremendous Manly backline and has performed so well on the international stage for the Kiwis is indicative of his tremendous ability.”

23-year-old Hiku made his NRL debut in 2013 and has played more than 60 games for the Sea Eagles.

He’ll join the Panthers in January.
