Police are appealing for public assistance after a car was found alight in Colyton this morning.
Just before 1.30am, emergency services were called to Sykes Place following reports of a car on fire.
Fire & Rescue NSW officers attended to the fire; however the Holden Commodore sedan was destroyed.
10 residents inside the home immediately adjacent to the car, as well as several nearby neighbours were evacuated as a precaution.
Police have received no reports of injury.
Officers attached to St Marys Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
Initial inquiries suggest the fire was deliberately lit.
As investigations into the circumstances leading up to the incident continue, police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.
