Penrith has suffered a huge injury blow with Jamal Idris set to miss the rest of the season after scans revealed a ruptured ACL.

Idris was injured in the second half of Penrith’s 22-12 victory over Manly on Saturday night.

The Panthers officially confirmed the news at about 2pm.

Dean Whare, who injured his hamstring in Penrith’s loss to the Cowboys a week ago, is expected to return for this weekend’s clash against the Titans on the Gold Coast.

It means Penrith is likely to move forward with a centre pairing of Whare and newcomer Waqa Blake, who has impressed in his first two matches in first grade.

There’s no word yet on the extent of Elijah Taylor’s knee injury.
