Hair's a good show

Their impressive facial hair may be the most prominent feature of Australian band The Beards, but it’s their witty folk rock music that has allowed them to last almost a decade.

The comedy rock band are set to release their fourth album, ‘The Beard Album’, and are heading out on a national tour

Vocalist Johann Beardraven said he and his fellow band mates were excited for the tour.

“We’ve convinced a lot of people to grow beards over the years,” he said.

“Now not only do we get to check how their beards are going, but with our new ultra-catchy beard-related tunes, we’re confident that we’ll be able to inspire a whole new level of beard-growing, right across the country.”

Their newest album follows up from their ARIA-nominated third release, ‘Having a Beard is the New Not Having a Beard’, which saw the band crack the Triple J Hottest 100.

“Our previous albums were pretty beardy, but we just felt they didn’t quite fully sum up our affinity towards beards,” bassist Nathaniel Beard said.

The Beards perform at the Tattersalls Hotel in Penrith on Friday, May 9 from 8.30pm. Entry is free. For more information call 4732 6373.
