Police have charged a man who was found in a local shopping centre filming the public with what is believed to be a “spy camera pen”.

At about 12.20pm on Monday, December 30, police were patrolling the shopping centre on Station Street, Penrith when they spotted a man sitting next to two young boys.

Police had reason to speak to the man, which led to a search.

Police recovered what appeared to be a pen, with a hidden camera inside.

The camera was examined and a number of video files were located.

As a result of police investigations, the man was charged with seven offences. These included “stalking” and “armed with intent to cause indictable offence”.

He will appear in Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday, January 22.
