The Penrith Emus are set to turn their fortunes around ahead of the upcoming season after they secured international franchise Outback Steakhouse as their sleeve sponsor for 2013.

It follows the recent announcement that The Western Weekender would be the club’s media partner for the 2013 season.
Outback Steakhouse, who are huge supporters of community initiatives across the Penrith region, will play a vital role in the NSW Shute Shield side’s development programs this year.

“At this stage Outback Steakhouse’s involvement is pretty broad-based but we’ll be looking at using their support for development in the region,” President of Penrith Emus, Jim Hook said.

“We want to provide a pathway for young people to progress their football aspirations and go to that next level. If we can use some of those resources for that then that’s going to help us a lot.”

Mike Hicks, Managing Partner of Outback Steakhouse Penrith, said he’s looking forward to being involved with a growing club in the area.

“Since we’ve opened in Penrith we’ve looked to get involved in various community sports,” he said.

“We’ve looked at the history of the club and the direction they are going, and we think we can make a great impact and provide plenty of support.”

Penrith Emus Marketing Manager, Shane Skeen, was confident the partnership with the local restaurant chain would encourage other big name companies to jump on board with a club hoping to turn around its fortunes both on and off the field.

“Our partnership with Outback Steakhouse is a sign of confidence from Mike Hicks that he’s willing to invest in our club,” he said.

“We’re excited about the direction we’re heading in and we’d like other corporates to be part of that journey too.”
