Going above and beyond to assist and better the lives of the homeless in the local area has long been a passion of Bernard Fehon, who received well deserved recognition of his efforts this week.

Mr Fehon was presented with a prestigious NSW Premier’s Community Service Award on Monday.

Member for Penrith, Stuart Ayres, presented Mr Fehon with the award, thanking him for his contribution to the local community.

“This award aims to recognise people who, in our community have gone well above and beyond on what’s really expected of anyone who’s operating within the community environment, and Bernard over a long period of time I think reflects that,” Mr Ayres said.

Mr Fehon is involved with St Vincent De Paul and established the CEO Sleepout for homelessness.

“There are thousands of volunteers who do the work and never get any recognition. All I have done is struck an idea,” Mr Fehon said.
