Teacher charged over secret camera

Police have charged a North St Marys man following an investigation into an incident at a primary school last month.

On Tuesday, July 31, police from Mt Druitt Local Area Command were alerted to an incident which had allegedly occurred the previous day at the school on Buckwell Drive at Hassall Grove.

A number of female students reported finding a video camera while they were getting changed after sports.

Police executed a search warrant at the North St Marys home of a 34-year-old teacher earlier this month and seized a number of items including a digital camera and a USB drives.

It will be alleged four separate videos showing female students changing at school were found on the items seized.

Yesterday, police arrested the teacher and interviewed him at Mt Druitt Police Station.

He has been charged with four counts of possess child abuse material, four counts of filming person in private act (aggravated), one count of attempt film person in private act without consent and four counts of installing a device to facilitate observation or filming.

The man has been refused bail and will appear at Mt Druitt Local Court.
