Residents are reminded there will be road closures and alternate train travel arrangements in place this weekend (2 – 3 June) as RailCorp carries out important maintenance and upgrades to the Western Line.

North Street in Penrith will be temporarily closed between Kendall and Lawson streets to complete essential track upgrades and progress the refurbishment of the Evan Street overbridge.

Acting Chief Operating Officer, Tony Eid, said residents whose properties are within the road closure will continue to have vehicle and pedestrian access, and alternative routes via Henry Street will be signposted. There are no road closures on Evan Street.

“RailCorp understands the inconvenience this may cause residents but the maintenance works are essential to improve the reliability and safety of services travelling on the Western Line,” Mr Eid said.

It is recommended residents should plan ahead this weekend and allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations.

“Buses will replace trains between Penrith and Blacktown stations from 5am Saturday until 11pm on Sunday,” Mr Eid said.

“We are committed to providing a more reliable network to customers and would like to thank them for their continued patience while these works takes place,” Mr Eid said.
