Police have charged a member of an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang with the theft of more than $300,000 of earth moving equipment in Western Sydney.

In February 2012, officers attached to the North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad (Penrith) established Strike Force Wattlebark to investigate the large scale theft of earth moving equipment.

As a result of investigations police identified a 40-year-old man as allegedly being involved in the theft of five pieces of earth moving equipment with a value of approximately $316,000.

The man, who police will allege is a full member of the Lone Wolf Outlaw Motorcycle gang, was arrested at Penrith Police Station yesterday.

He was subsequently charged with four counts of steal motor vehicle, one count of attempted steal motor vehicle and destroy or damage property.

The man was refused bail and is expected to appear in Penrith Local Court today.
