Liberal pre-selection shock

As debate rages over the Kevin Rudd versus Julia Gillard leadership saga, the Liberal Party is preparing to pre-select its candidate for the seat of Lindsay.

The Weekender understands a faction of the Liberal Party is attempting to parachute a Baulkham Hills Shire Councillor into Lindsay to take on David Bradbury at next year’s election.

Robyn Preston, who on Wednesday told the Weekender she was unable to comment on internal party matters, unsuccessfully ran for pre-selection for the state seat of Parramatta in 2010.

It is understood Ms Preston will be up against two former pre-selection candidates – Margaret Grand and Fiona Scott – on March 9.

Ms Scott, a Penrith local, eventually ran against Mr Bradbury in the 2010 election campaign, shaving Labor’s margin considerably and leaving Lindsay on a knife’s edge for the 2013 poll.
