Penrith Valley Sports Foundation hosted its annual Sportstar of the Year Dinner last Thursday, recognising the achievements of sportsmen and women on the field as well as coaches, administrative staff and officials.

Terry McCallum, President of the Penrith Valley Sports Foundation, said that it is amazing to see the world-class sporting talent that is home grown right here in Penrith.

“As well as recognising the feats of those in the sporting arena, we also applaud those whose continual efforts and dedication allow our athletes to flourish,” Mr McCallum said.

“To those volunteers, administrators and officials that do so much, say so little and ask for nothing, this night we also pay our respects to you.”

Master of Ceremonies for the night was sports commentator and model, Stephanie Brantz, who was the Master of Ceremonies for the third year in a row.

The prestigious Team of the Year award was sponsored by the Western Weekender and was awarded to the Over 30 Women’s Nepean Association Soccer side.

Junior Sports Star of the year was awarded to Jordan Lecher for his stunning performances on the BMX track this year and Senior Sports Star went to Patrick Cummins, who has cemented his place as an Australian cricket representative.
