The Western Weekender is one of the largest and most successful independent newspapers in Australia.
Servicing the growing region of Penrith, we are proudly local and boast an energetic and vibrant team.
Due to a long-term staff member heading for a sea change, we have a position available in our Production department.
The Desktop Publisher / Finished Artist, reporting to the Production Manager and the Managing Editor, coordinates the layout and design of individual pages within our newspapers / magazines on a weekly basis.
Working on both our flagship Penrith publication and our other publications from our Penrith office, the role involves:
• Coordinating the week-to-week layout and production of our publications
• Laying in stories and photographs to individual pages as directed by the Editor
• Overseeing finalisation of press-ready files
• An element of graphic design
The role requires:
• An intimate knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat and Distiller
• Experience operating a MAC
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Attention to detail
• A master of time management
• Ability to work in a team environment
You will work a minimum 37.5 hours per week, generally with Fridays off.
