An elderly man has been attacked by a dog whilst on an early morning walk with his own pets.
About 4.30am today, a 65-year-old male from St Marys was walking his dogs around Shepherd Park, St Marys.
Whilst walking along Shepherd Street, he was knocked to the ground by a Rottweiler dog.
Once on the ground the man was bitten a number of times to the back of his head by the dog.
The victim’s own dogs came to his aid but they too were attacked.
The owner of the Rottweiler, a 25-year-old female, came from her house to give aid.
The victim was spoken to by police but declined any action.
The matter has been referred to Penrith City Council.
