A 34-year-old man from Glenmore Park has received a suspended term of imprisonment of 10 months, a 10-month good behaviour bond, had his licence disqualified for a period of two years and fined $1,000 plus $83 in court fees after driving whilst intoxicated.

At 6.30pm on September 17, the man parked his car on High Street, Penrith to attend to some shopping. He soon returned to his car and after switching it on, reversed into a parked car behind him.

A member of the public who witnessed the incident ran over and took the man’s keys and contacted police. When police arrived they could smell alcohol on his breath and he was subjected to a breath test.

The man returned a positive reading of 0.258, five times the legal limit.

The man told police that between 4pm and 6pm that day he had consumed four full-strength beers and four shots of vodka.
