Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following a fatal three car crash this afternoon.
About 12.15pm, a sedan, four-wheel drive and utility collided while travelling on the Northern Road near Chain of Ponds Road at Orchard Hills.
A woman travelling in the sedan was trapped for a short time.
Emergency services performed CPR at the scene before she was taken to Nepean Hospital in a critical condition.
The woman died in hospital.
Medical officers later confirmed the woman was not pregnant.
Crash investigators are still at the scene and delays are expected as the Northern Road remains closed in both directions. Motorists are advised to use Mulgoa Road.
