A man has been charged with multiple offences relating to attempted robberies and fires in Penrith last night.
A 29-year-old man went to a service station in High Street about 7.45pm yesterday (15 October).
Police will allege the man demanded cash, however, the attendant refused and the man sprayed fluid over several petrol bowsers, setting it alight.
The man then allegedly went into a supermarket and threatened staff he’d set fire to bottles of citronella oil.
The man then allegedly went into an adjoining liquor store and threatened to set fire to the oil, before being handed cash and he ran from the store.
The man was apprehended by security staff and held until police arrived and arrested him.
The man was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with:
• Damage property by fire/explosive with intent to injure; and,
• Robbery while armed with an offensive weapon (three counts).
He was refused bail to appear in Penrith Local Court earlier today.
