Big damage bill after fire

Police are investigating a suspicious warehouse fire in St Marys.

About 12am today, police and Fire and Rescue were called to a warehouse fire on Chapel Street.

By 2am the fire was extinguished, with damage to the building and stock estimated at over $300,000.

Initial investigations suggest the fire started in the loading dock area and police are treating it as suspicious.

Witnesses have told police that they saw two persons running from Chapel Street toward Queen Street at the time the fire started, and police are urging further witnesses to come forward.
