Police from Penrith Local Area Command are appealing for information from the public following an armed robbery at a newsagency.
About 5.50am today (Sunday), two men – both with balaclavas covering their faces, one carrying a large piece of timber – entered a newsagency on Borrowdale Way, Cranebrook.
The duo immediately approached the front counter of the business and raided cash from the register and cigarettes from a cupboard. They then fled the store on foot and were last seen getting into a square shaped sedan.
The sole worker in the shop at the time – a 49-year-old female – was uninjured during the incident, and she called police as soon as the men left.
Officers attended and an investigation into the matter is now underway.
Police are looking for two men believed to be responsible for the robbery.
The first man is described as being approximately 185cm tall, of slim build and having a pale complexion. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark coloured hooded-jumper, dark track pants and gloves, and had a balaclava covering his face.
The second man is described as being approximately 175cm tall and having a slim build. At the time of the incident, he too was wearing a dark coloured hooded-jumper, dark gloves and had a balaclava covering his face.
Detectives ask that anyone with information in relation to the robbery contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
