The Western Weekender kicked off 2012 fundraising for local charity OZWAC on Monday with a $2,000 donation at a special meet and greet event held at Outback Steakhouse.
Around 100 people attended the event, which provided an opportunity for people not previously associated with OZWAC to learn more about the charity and what it does within the community.
OZWAC was established to provide funding for medical research into the health of women and children, and to raise community awareness of important health issues.
The foundation, since its inception, has supported research at Nepean and Westmead Hospitals and other research centres in New South Wales.
“We’re thrilled to kick off the fundraising with this $2,000 donation,” said Weekender Sales Manager, Simon Gould.
“We believe in supporting those who support the community and there is little doubt that OZWAC has been a very special part of the local community for more than a decade.”
OZWAC’s major fundrasier for the year, the annual Charity Ball, will be held on Saturday, May 12.
